Origin of Runes: Presentation with Dr. Jackson Crawford

Two thousand years ago, the ancestors of languages such as English, the Scandinavian languages, and German were written in a unique alphabet with a fascinating story that scholars have struggled to unravel. New discoveries and new ideas are shedding light on the origin of this cryptic writing system, which may have roots that are older and stranger than previously guessed at.

Colorado's Dr. Jackson Crawford has taught Old Norse language, mythology, and runes at such institutions as UCLA, UC Berkeley, and the University of Colorado. A translator of Norse myths with four best-selling books to his name, and a consultant on such major media projects as Disney's Frozen and Ubisoft Montréal's Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Crawford is also a pioneer in digital education with a popular Youtube channel (youtube.com/jacksoncrawford) and a full offering of online classes.
